Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took aim at President Joe Biden on Wednesday, accusing him of echoing "Chinese propaganda" concerning the forced imprisonment and labor of the Chinese Muslim ethnic minority, the Uyghurs.

"That language that it’s just a set of different norms, that’s the Chinese propaganda line, they want you to think this is just a quiet nation [that] may have a little bit of a different system, but goodness gracious, what's all the fuss about?" Pompeo said on Fox Business.

"The truth of the matter is they are trying to wipe out an entire people," he said.

Pompeo was referring to comments President Biden made Tuesday during CNN's Presidential town hall, in which Biden made seemingly made excuses for China's authoritarian and genocidal actions by saying there "culturally different norms" between China and the U.S.

"I point out to him no American can be sustained as a president if he doesn't reflect the values of the United States,” he said. “So the idea that I'm not going to speak out against what he’s doing in Hong Kong, what he's doing with the Uighurs in the western mountains of China, Taiwan and the One China policy by making it forceful...he gets it," Biden said.

"Culturally, there are different norms that each country and their leaders are expected to follow," he continued.

While Secretary of State, Pompeo was vocally against the human rights abuses of the Chinese Communist Party in Xinjiang against the Uyghurs, in Tibet and in Hong Kong.

He expressed the that Chinese President Xi Jinping may be happy now to see that the new Biden administration will be softer on China than the Trump administration was.

"Maybe Xi Jinping gets the fact that now the administration is only going to talk about this and raise it quote, 'because I have to talk about this,' rather than take action," Pompeo said.

He added that he hopes that the Biden administration "won’t treat China as a nation with slightly different norms."
