A man was found by police stabbed to death on Sunday evening in the Buckman Neighborhood of Portland. According to a press release, police officers responded to a stabbing report near the intersections of Southeast Washington Street and Southeast Water Avenue at 6:41 pm when officers found a man who was deceased.
Police stated that "one person has been detained and officers are not currently looking for any suspects."
According to KATU, the man was a long-time driver for Radio City Cab.
The company gave the following statement about the victim: "He was a kind and dedicated cab operator. He had been driving over a decade and never had a complaint. He cared about Portland and loved this city and especially loved helping people get from one place to another. He was a model driver and an exemplary example of the people who have kept Radio Cab as a vibrant and desired place to work."
Their media relations director added of police, "While our company is in mourning trying to make sense of this difficult loss, we ask our city leaders to do more to allow police to enforce laws, bolster the Portland Police Bureau resources and focus on the health of our citizens." It has been reported that in recent years that the downtown city centers of Democrat-led cities have seen a nearly 50 percent drop in human activity due to high crime rates and homelessness. Portland is among the top of these cities that saw record high crime rates the past few years following the “defund the police” efforts after the 2020 BLM Riots.
On Monday afternoon, the Portland Police Bureau identified the suspect as 30-year-old Moses Lopez, who was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. Lopez has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
