The Portland Police Department took strong action against Antifa activists Saturday evening, ordering them to get off the street or face arrest.
This comes as their northern neighbors have installed what is known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) in Seattle. Though there were attempts by Portland protesters to erect their own autonomous zone earlier this week, it was quickly abandoned.
The authorities began by giving the protesters an opportunity to clear the area before implementing crowd control munitions, but the protesters decided to take their chances.

And when the protesters did not heed the warnings, law enforcement pressed forward with their method of splitting the protesters into smaller groups and herding them off the streets.

While the officers were doing their jobs to prevent riots, protesters can be heard saying "F**k you pigs!" as they backpedal away from the officers with batons.
Soon after, the authorities began chasing down the protesters with batons, dispersing the crowd and forcing them off the streets.

There were also reports of members of the media being treated indiscriminately by the police, largely due to the fact that many Antifa protesters claimed to be members of the media as well by holding up their camera phones.
