Portland Police release mugshots of sexual assault suspect hoping additional victims come forward

The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) released photos of suspect Leroy Rubben Morales Sr. on Monday in hopes that more victims will come forward after detectives discovered that Morales may have been the suspect in other crimes.

Leroy Rubben Morales Sr., a 55-year-old Hispanic male, was indicted by a Grand Jury in early October on charges of attempt sodomy in the first degree, attempt sexual abuse in the first degree, burglary in the first degree, harassment, and private indecency, according to PPB.

On October 3, North Precinct police officers responded to an attempted sexual assault call. Morales entered the victims backyard in the Piedmont Neighborhood and attempted to sexually assault the victim. The two allegedly did not know each other, PPB reports.

Suspect Leroy Rubben Morales Sr. was identified, arrested, and booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on October 4, one day after the assault.

In a press release on Wednesday the Portland Police Bureau said that after further investigations they have reason to believe Morales is the suspect in other crimes. PPB released multiple photos of Morales hoping more victims come forward.

"As detectives continued investigating, they learned that Morales may have been a suspect is other crimes, possibly unreported to police. While PPB does not normally release mugshots, we are distributing three booking photographs in an attempt to assist potential victims of Morales to identify him and contact detectives," PPB said in a press release.

The Portland Police Bureau did not specify the type of crimes Morales may have committed in addition to the attempted sexual assault.
