On Friday, Premier Doug Ford said that Ontarians can expect an announcement on Tuesday regarding schools and child care, according to CP24.

“Minister Lecce is coming out with an announcement on Tuesday so the first day back minister Lecce will have an announcement about child care and about schools moving forward,” Ford said at Friday’s news conference.

The premier gave the information after he was asked how parents and guardians are going to be able to return to work without arrangements for child care.

“The number one priority I always believe is your family. Family comes first,” Ford said and then mentioned Lecce’s upcoming announcement.

On Thursday, Ontario announced that many services will be resuming Tuesday, including babysitter and nanny services.

Ford noted that infection-prevention measures like social distancing, wearing a mask, and frequent hand washing will continue to be stressed.

“We’ve come so, so far and we’re gonna continue moving hopefully in this direction,” Ford said.

The school year only has about a month left and many have assumed that classes will not be resuming at physical schools for the rest of this term, but the province still has not given a definitive answer.

Ontario currently has some emergency child care centres open for the children of essential workers though most are closed.
