A newly leaked email from Project Veritas shows the USCIS director announcing proposals to immigration policy in the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.
It was on Tuesday that Project Veritas hinted at a whistleblower coming forward to talk about gang members getting together to get "unaccompanied kids" across the border.
The full reveal of that is coming August 24th.
In the meantime the organization sent out a leaked email from Ur M. Jaddou, Director, US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Changes are being proposed to asylum protections related to individuals with "credible fear of persecution or torture."
"The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice (DOJ) are proposing changes to the current regulations relating to certain protection claims raised by individuals subject to expedited removal who are found to have a credible fear of persecution or torture.
"These proposed changes are designed to accelerate the adjudication process for individuals in expedited removal proceedings who are seeking asylum, withholding of removal, or protection under the Convention Against Torture. They are also designed to reduce the significant backlog in asylum claims pending with DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review."
Earlier this year, Project Veritas focused on the situation at the US-Mexico border as the Biden administration sought to curtail mainstream media access from reporting on the conditions. It included a flyover of the Texas migrant detention facility, showing the increase in its size in a matter of weeks.
On the part of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services they admit there’s a backlog to applications, given the Biden administration’s policy as it stands.
"The proposed system seeks to reduce processing times by transferring the initial responsibility for adjudicating certain protection claims from immigration USCIS asylum officers," is a key line highlighted by Veritas when sharing the leaked email.
The Biden border crisis had been one of the most key issues of the administration prior to the current Afghanistan situation. Border officials were overwhelmed by the record-breaking number of migrants coming across the US - Mexico border. In more recent reporting the lack of COVID testing had resurfaced.
Earlier this summer the avoidance of Vice President Harris to visit the US - Mexico border had come to the public’s attention. Especially after a contentious interview with NBC’s Lester Holt where she was confronted about the matter.
It would also not be the first time sweeping policing changes were proposed. In May 2021 New York's Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for a racial reckoning when approaching immigration reform.
However, the timing of the email suggests that this move is being done in the name of the Afghanistan situation. This as the Taliban takes over the country and imposes Sharia law, which limits the rights of women and girls as it applies to public life.
The international community is prioritizing the rights of girls to an education, and are skeptical as to the Taliban’s promises on delivering in that department.
