Trudeau family's speaking fees from talent agency buried by prorogue

Official Opposition finance critic and Leeds-Grenville MP Michael Barrett criticized Justin Trudeau for his shady dealings with an unidentified sponsor.

With Parliament having been prorogued until the end of September, documents with information regarding the disclosure of speaking and talent agency fees to members of the Prime Minister's family have been sealed off.

"They don’t want Canadians, they don’t even want members of Parliament, to see the documents that were to be released to the ethics committee,” said Barrett on Wednesday.

Records show the talent agency paid Margaret Trudeau $15,000 per appearance, with Justin charging $10,000 to $20,000 per appearance during his time before becoming prime minister, according to Blacklock's Reporter.

Barrett told media that the agency was seeking an extension on disclosing the amounts, and was to provide records yesterday, until prorogue came into effect. "Once Parliament was prorogued the order for production of documents was eliminated just like our mandate as a committee."

"I understand the scope of the documents was a number of pages, maybe less than twenty, in an Excel spreadsheet,” Barrett continued. "They had prepared the documents but they didn’t send it a day early. They were waiting until today."

"At the ethics committee today, members were to receive documents from the company that has brokered all speaking engagements for members of the Trudeau family since 2008... Today we were to get those documents. Members of the committee will not, now that the Prime Minister has locked the doors and locked those documents away."

The Trudeau familiy received an estimated $564,846 in speaking fees, expenses, and trips to London and New York, from one federal contractor.
