Federal prosecutors are recommending that a man arrested in connection to the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer receive a 9-year prison sentence as a result of his actions.
Ty Garbin was arrested along with five other men in connection to the case that have been charged in federal court, according to UpNorthLive. Additional suspects were arrested and charged in state court for aiding them.
Garbin reportedly pleaded guilty to conspiracy four months after being arrested.
The government, in a court filing, said that Garbin deserved credit for working with investigators.
Garbin will be sentenced in federal court in Grand Rapids on August 25.
Earlier this week, Michael Hills, the attorney for one of the six men charged in federal court named Brandon Caserta, claimed that the FBI had told an informant named "Dan" to lie and recruit new members into the plot.
Hills wrote, "These text messages indicate the FBI was pushing their paid agent to actively recruit people into an overt act in furtherance of a conspiracy," according to Just The News.
