WATCH: Psaki grilled over ineffectiveness of Democrats' COVID lockdowns

"I would point you to our scientific experts on the specifics of the study, but the president's agenda, the president's approach has not been lockdowns. It has been using the tools we have to prevent that."

A reporter questioned White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during a press conference on Friday about COVID-inspired lockdowns and whether they were ultimately worth it.

"So, you guys do believe then that the lockdowns were more harmful than helpful?" the reporter asked Psaki.

"Again, I would point you to our scientific experts on the specifics of the study, but the president's agenda, the president's approach has not been lockdowns. It has been using the tools we have to prevent that," Psaki replied to the reporter.

While the federal government has no direct authority to enact a measure such as a lockdown, many of the nation's Democrat-led states have done so, in many cases bypassing the state legislatures and enacting executive orders and mandates based on emergency powers.

These lockdowns shuttered small businesses, restaurants, churches, schools, museums, and other cultural institutions. Large businesses, like Walmart, Costco, and Target, were allowed to remain open to provide goods and services. Liquor stores and casinos were also, in many cases, not among those businesses that were impacted by lockdown requirements that they close.

Since the start of the pandemic, draconian measures have been enacted in states such as California, for example, and despite Psaki's assertion, the Biden administration has not so much as spoken out about these lockdowns.

In fact, people are very upset about the Biden administration's handling of the pandemic, along with the country's ballooning inflation, among many other issues. People have been cited as saying they are "frustrated", "disappointed" and "nervous" due to the way things appear to be headed.
