A report from the Journal de Montreal on Tuesday says that the Legault government will introduce a vaccine passport for those who wish to purchase liquor and cannabis from the province's suppliers.

This includes SAQ stores and SQDCs. The unvaccinated will still be able to purchase beers and wines from convenience stores.

According to an anonymous government source, the Legault government will bar the unvaccinated from liquor and cannabis stores—the only locations where Quebecers can obtain hard alcohol and marijuana legally—starting sometime in the next week.

No details have been finalized, though the source said that unvaccinated employees will still be able to work.

The province of Quebec continues to deal with soaring cases of COVID-19, driven almost entirely by the mild Omicron variant.

The province currently has 181 patients in intensive care. The province recorded 15,845 new cases yesterday, along with 13 more deaths, though it has not been announced whether these deaths were from Delta variant or Omicron.
