A 41-year-old man from London, Ontario who is facing child pornography charges has been identified as an RCMP sergeant, Global News reports.
Sgt. Christopher Cisecki, who has been with the RCMP for 15 years, was caught with child pornography after London police received information from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC).
The NCECC originally tipped off London police about a man sharing child exploitative material over social media. In late January, the Internet Child Exploitation Unit of the London police executed a search warrant of Cisecki's home.
"The investigation revealed evidence of the alleged sharing and possession of child pornography material," police said. They also seized various electronics from Cisecki's home.
"We are aware of the charges brought forward by the London Police Service," said Sgt. Lucie Lapointe of the RCMP.
While the officer is currently suspended with pay, Lapointe said "a suspended without pay process has been initiated."
"As a police service we work diligently to investigate instances of online child sexual exploitation and bring the offenders to justice, and we share this commitment with our law enforcement partners," she continued
"While these allegations, if proven true, are extremely unsettling, Canadians and our law enforcement partners can trust that our priority continues to be the integrity of the investigations and the safety and security of the public we serve," Lapointe finished.
Cisecki is facing charges of possessing and making available child pornography.
