Rebel News will be sending eleven journalists to cover the national leader's debates after being granted an emergency hearing Tuesday. This comes as the debate commission denied eleven of its employees the credentials needed to join the event and ask post-debate questions of the leaders.

Global News noted the commission initially denied the Rebel News accreditation request, stating the organization violated its "conflict-of-interest rules" because it is actively involved in campaigns.

According to Rebel News, "Justice Elizabeth Heneghan agreed with us that Justin Trudeau's hand-picked debates commission was wrong to have excluded our Rebel News reporters from attending the leader's debates."

Heneghan also wrote that Rebel News "has satisfied the test for an interlocutory mandatory injunction."

This was not the first time the debate commission has banned conservative media from attending the debates. In 2019, Rebel News and True North Centre were excluded, leading to a similar injunction, forcing the commission to accredit the outlets.

Ezra Levant said the commission's decision to exclude Rebel News from this week's debates was "deeply suspect, both in substance, purpose, and intent is contradictory, capricious, and is tainted by logical contradictions, ethical irregularities, circular reasoning, and irrationality."

As a result of a 460-page affidavit and a ruling in their favour, Rebel News will send eleven journalists to cover both tonight's French-language debate and tomorrow's English-language debate.
