President Trump called for the repeal of Section 230 on Tuesday, meaning that he believes social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to be publishers rather than platforms.

Section 230 currently gives social media companies an exemption from laws regarding libel and defamation, as they are considered hosts of others (users) rather than advocates themselves of any political leanings.

With big tech sites now frequently using fact-check measures that many say have a political slant, a repeal of Section 230 would mean that they are held accountable for how they portray themselves.

The most obvious examples of this are seen on Twitter, where factual tweets from the president are censored because they do not fit the Big Tech, MSM narratives.

One tweet from four months ago claimed that Trump was "glorifying violence," putting a warning label over the tweet before being visible.

"...These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd," tweeted Trump. "I won't let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!"
