In a tweet from 2020, incoming White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that Georgia's contentious gubernatorial race in 2018 was stolen from romance novelist and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams.
"Reminder," Jean-Pierre wrote in response to an article about Governor Brian Kemp's handling of Covid-19 in the early days of the pandemic, "Brian Kemp stole the gubernatorial election from Georgians and Stacey Abrams."
In 2018, Abrams refused to concede the election despite losing. Abrams is running again, against the man who won the first time, incumbent Governor Brian Kemp. Abrams has gone on to defend her unwillingness to concede.
She lost by 1.4 points. Her refusal to concede was over allegations of voter suppression. She said that a concession would be to acknowledge that "an action is right, true or proper," and that she couldn't do it.
Abrams said in 2021 that "the game was rigged against the voters of Georgia." She refused to concede for more than three years, and counting.
Jean-Pierre inherits a press office that has vowed to fight "misinformation" and "disinformation," but like her predecessor Jen Psaki, who claimed that the New York Post's reporting on Hunter Biden's laptop, revealing influence-peddling on the Biden family name in Ukraine and China, she is a spreader of "disinformation" herself.
In 2016, Jean-Pierre said that Trump had stolen the presidential election from Hilary Clinton. She said, "Stolen emails, stolen drone, stolen election..... welcome to the world of #UnPresidented Trump."
This was in response to a tweet claiming, essentially, that Trump had colluded with a foreign government to steal the election. It was later revealed that the collusion was on the side of the Clinton campaign, and the Trump campaign was framed for malfeasance.
Jean-Pierre is replacing Psaki, who is heading off to cover the news from outside the briefing room, having taken a job with MSNBC. Jean-Pierre was hailed for being the first black woman to be press secretary, and also praised for being a lesbian. Her wife is a CNN national correspondent.
Another recent addition to the Biden administration, Nina Jankowicz, who heads the Department of Homeland Security's newly formed Disinformation Governance Board, is also guilty of spreading "misinformation" and "disinformation." She claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story was a "fairy tale."
