New reporting reveals that Hunter Biden’s business dealings briefly involved courting Russian oligarch Vladimir Yevtushenkov for real estate offers. These meetings that took place during the Obama-Biden administration are under controversy now given the Russian oligarch’s role making weapons for the Kremlin amid the invasion of Ukraine.
According to the Daily Mail, Spokespeople for the Russian side confirmed that Vladimir Yevtushenkov met with Hunter Biden but noted that "no follow-up" came out of it. Regardless, observers have noted Yevtushenkov’s absence amidst President Biden’s long list of sanctions against Putin that have been unleashed since the start of the invasion in February.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov, a short while after his brush-ins with Hunter Biden, was arrested on money-laundering charges in September 2014. These charges were dropped in January 2016, in what was said to be politically charged prosecution.
These renewed warming ties with the Kremlin are what resulted in Yevtushenkov becoming a central figure of scrutiny amid Russian’s invasion of Ukraine. The Russian oligarch’s company manufactures a drone used by Putin’s military to bomb Ukrainian cities.
Rosemont Realty was founded in 2008 by Hunter Biden's Yale schoolmates Devon Archer and former secretary of state John Kerry's stepson Chris Heinz. The Biden son joined the firm's advisory board in 2010 and was a part owner.
The below emails, obtained by the Daily Mail, establish a digital paper trail between Hunter Biden’s Rosemont firm and Russian interests connected to Yevtushenkov.
April 23rd 2011. Devon Archer: "On cultural emersion tour. Nice. 60 and sunny. It was a nightmare getting in though all good now. At the kremlin."
November 13th/14th 2011. Devon Archer: "Moscow. Gym. First meeting at 11am. Had some bear meat last night. Yummy. Safe flight back. Lets debrief tomorrow when you're back."
November 15th 2011. Devon Archer specifies to an associate that his mission in Moscow was centered around a pitch for real estate. "It does look like I will be back quite a bit based on our initial response to the real estate fund pitch and I will be able to schedule some time then. Based on our phone conversation it sounds like there's not too much pressing but look forward to meeting him."
Hunter Biden’s associate Devon Archer was sentenced in February 2022 for a scheme to defraud a Native American tribe with upwards of $60 million in bonds.
The Daily Mail in their coverage highlighted a February 16, 2012 dinner that Hunter Biden had with the President of the Russian Holding Company, Sistema, Vladimir Yevtushenkov.
In a Substack, independent journalist Vicki Ward uncovered that on March 14th, 2012, Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov had a meeting with Hunter Biden at the Ritz-Carlton in New York City.
Alongside a memo confirming the scheduled breakfast, Ward got independent corroboration:
"A source with knowledge says that Yevtushenkov may have deviated from the planned schedule, but he certainly made the US trip. And, just this morning, a Sistema spokesperson confirmed to me that Yevutshenkov’s meeting with Biden took place, as a matter of "routine" and that Yevtushenkov was scouting for business opportunities. After that meeting, says the spokesperson there was no follow-up."
The memo says the following morning Mr. Yevtushenkov had a meeting with "Rosemont Realty" in Dallas, Texas to review their real-estate portfolio.
Fast forward eight months and, according to the Daily Mail, Devon Archer was advertising how in late January 2013 he would be having multiple meetings with "Evtushenkov" on the 27th and 28th.
"We are going to be reviewing our commercial office investment program with him and his team. From there we are going to see one of our properties in the afternoon called Dulles View, a $110mm office property in the DC sub market, as an example of our portfolio holdings," Archer wrote.
Archer said in that email that Hunter Biden would be joining the both of them.
Interest in Yevtushenkov came about through the widowed mayor of Moscow, Elena Baturina. A spokesman for Yevtushenkov denies embarking on "joint projects" with Baturina, but refused to confirm or deny that she introduced him to Hunter Biden.
Ward’s reporting indicates that at one time there was an investment by Baturina into "three of Rosemont Realty’s then-117 properties." She further adds that sources claim Devon Archer helped introduce Hunter Biden to these Russian entities, as Baturina was also a friend to Vladimir Yevtushenkov.
The further relevancy being that Baturina wired $3.5 million USD to "Rosemont Seneca Thornton LLC) on February 14th, 2014 (according to page 69 of a September 2020 government report).
Russian billionaire Vladimir Yevtushenkov earlier in April relinquished formal control of his Sistema company, as a response to sanctions levied by the United Kingdom. The United States and President Biden haven’t yet made similar sanction moves of their own.
The relevancy for the Ukraine - Russia war is that Yevtushenko's company "Kronshtadt" supplies "Orion" drones to the Russian army. They were witnessed by international sources as having been used in the warfront.
This is despite how President Biden’s usage of sanctions was broadcasted up until and throughout the earliest days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In response to Putin’s decision invade the neighboring country, Biden enacted economic punishments and encouraged other western countries to do the same.
It’s unclear how this recent discovery by the media of his son’s connections to a Russian oligarch, will impact Joe Biden’s latest Russian response agenda.
However, the latest development in the Hunter Biden saga has recently uncovered that Hunter’s business partner Eric Schwerin visited the White House 27 times during the Obama - Biden administration.
