New videos show panelists at the 2021 Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference promoted everything from artificial penis "packers" to "feminizing hormones" for children.
In July 2021, attendees from around the world gathered online for the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, the world's largest conference for gender diverse issues.
Videos obtained by activist and Manhattan Institute senior fellow Christopher Rufo show that conference speakers encouraged minors to take puberty blockers, and to use sex toys and artificial ejaculation devices.
"Really strange and deranged for any adult," Rufo told Tucker Carlson on Thursday. "But really truly shocking, and frankly disgusting, to be directing this towards minors with the encouragement of taxpayer dollars and the public schools."
On Friday, Rufo posted a number of clips from the conference to Twitter.
In one video, trans medical provider Dane Menkin discusses "feminizing medications" for children.
"Zero to six months after starting estrogen, and or the blocker of different sorts," Menkin began, "I expect to see people having decreased erections, and I expect them to have no more spontaneous erections."
Around this time, those taking hormones will experience "a stopping of the making of sperm," softer skin, and nipple sensitivity leading to breast development, he said.
In another presentation open to minors, trans activist Chase Ross demonstrated the myriad "packers" females can insert in their pants to create a "bulge."
"I feel like a lot of the prosthetics are just big," Ross said, "and people don't like to pack big all the time. They just like to know that there's something in their pants."
He then highlighted a prosthetic that was not as large, saying, "If you're like a smaller person, or if you're a kid ..this is the way to go."
Ross said the prosthetic was quite hard, warning viewers "if somebody grabs you," they might go, "Oh my god, you're hard."
He then demonstrated an "artificial ejaculation device" that lets users simulate having an orgasm by filling it with "cornstarch with water."
Psychotherapist Rachel Simon, who authored an "LGBTQ-inclusive" sex-ed book for seven to 12-year-olds, said the talk "was geared towards teens, but ... sexuality education starts the minute you're born."
Simon urged participants to list cons associated with discussing sexuality with parents, such as "homophobic and transphobic ideas" they may espouse. She agreed with one commenter who called parents "bigoted" and "misinformed," especially if religious.
As Rufo reported, the Philadelphia Public Schools' office of diversity equity, and inclusion promoted the conference to teachers and urged them to attend. The school district did not fund the event. It was run by the non-profit Mazzoni Center, which received $5,456,958 in government contracts in 2021.
The organization seeks to "provide quality comprehensive health and wellness services in an LGBTQ-focused environment, while preserving the dignity and improving the quality of life of the individuals we serve."
The 2022 conference is scheduled to take place online July 21-23. It includes panels like "Surgical Options for Transmasculine & Non-binary Individuals," "Gender-Affirming Surgery for Youth," "Vaginoplasty Challenges in Transfeminine and Nonbinary Youth," and "Healthy Binding from the Start."
