Incumbent Republican Rep. Nicholas Van Campen Taylor of Texas has publicly bowed out of the state’s primary race amidst fallout from an extramarital affair with "ISIS bride" Tania Joya, that became public knowledge the day before voting commenced.

Taylor admitted to the scandal in an announcement to supporters saying, "About a year ago, I made a horrible mistake that has caused deep hurt and pain among those I love most in this world. I had an affair, it was wrong, and it was the greatest failure of my life."

The Dallas Morning News alleged one of the other candidates, Suzanne Harp, helped broadcast the Van Taylor affair story in the first place. Tania Joya first contacted Harp who in turn put Joya in touch with someone to interview her.

It became last-minute election fodder from there, sinking the candidacy of someone who advertised himself to supporters as a family man.

Taylor added, "I want to apologize for the pain I have caused with my indiscretion, most of all to my wife Anne and our three daughters. For months, Anne and I have been working to repair the scars left by my actions. I am unworthy, but eternally thankful for her love and forgiveness."

He continued, "I have let down so many other family members, friends, colleagues, supporters, and the people of the 3rd Congressional District whom I have had the great honor and privilege to represent. I am truly sorry, and I hope in time I can earn their forgiveness."

According to Reuters, Taylor was winning the primary race against other Republicans and garnered nearly fifty percent of the votes. But since the Congressman is now stepping aside, Keith Self is now the apparent winner for November’s general election.

Earlier this week, Breitbart and National File uncovered how Taylor had an affair with "ISIS bride" Tania Joya, and then paid her $5000 to keep quiet about it.

Joya had escaped from Syria back in 2013 and ended up in the Texas area years later. She wanted to work in the anti-extremism field and thought the married Taylor would help her out. This led to the intimate partnership between the pair that lasted from October 2020 to June 2021. It caused mental stress for Joya, but the Congressman wanted it to continue anyway, plying her with gifts during their fling.
