Actor and comedian Rob Reiner on Monday said that President Donald Trump is "murdering Americans," due to Trump's handling of the coronavirus.
"Over 135,000 dead and counting. The President of the United States is killing US. You can trash doctors and scientists. You can try to spin your way out of this. But you can’t spin death," he said.
"There’s no other way to say this: Donald Trump is murdering Americans," said Reiner in a followup on Twitter
Reiner also specifically pointed out the number of deaths in New York. The state has reported almost 430,000 cases and more than 32,000 deaths. Thousands of the deaths are linked directly to nursing homes. There are currently 200,403 active cases in this state that has conducted nearly 5 million tests.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration at first requested that nursing homes accept Covid-19 patients when they are discharged from the hospital. More than 6,400 of the state’s fatalities are directly connected to nursing homes.
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a tally on Tuesday morning saying that 3.2 million cases of coronavirus have been reported in the US, along with 134,000 coronavirus-related deaths.
Cuomo is also still blaming President Trump for the outcome.
"Trump’s COVID scandal makes Nixon’s Watergate look innocent," he said on Monday. "No one died in the Watergate scandal."
Many have also criticized the President for pushing to reopen schools in the fall.
Reiner has also previously accused Trump of being responsible for the death of Americans.
In March, Reiner said the President was "causing people in NY to DIE," and he declared last month that "a vote for Trump is a vote for Death."
