President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Sunday afternoon that former NYC Mayor and Trump legal advisor Rudy Giuliani has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The President's tweet read,"@RudyGiuliani, by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC, and who has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA, has tested positive for the China Virus. Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!"

President Trump himself contracted the virus in October along with First Lady Melania Trump. Several others close to his administration also tested positive for COVID-19 including White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, senior White House advisor Hope Hicks and White House aide Nicholas Luna.

Giuliani has so far been a key figure in the President's legal challenge to the 2020 election results. If he is taken out of commission for an extended time between now and the inauguration, it may have  a serious mitigating effect on the Trump team's push to overturn the election results in several key battleground states.
