The Federalist’s Sean Davis and Mollie Hemingway have uncovered new evidence that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was briefed in February on intelligence suggesting the possibility of Russia offering bounties to the Taliban to kill US soldiers. Schiff was briefed on this during a trip to Afghanistan with a Congressional delegation, yet he failed to respond to that information.
Despite this, Schiff demanded on June 29 that the Trump Administration reveal this foreign intelligence to Congress. Speaking to CNN, Schiff said "We also want to look into this issue of whether the president was briefed on this, and if he was not briefed, why that was. Is this again a concern about speaking truth to power, that Donald Trump doesn’t want to hear anything negative about Vladimir Putin?"
Yet Schiff himself was personally debriefed months ago and never disclosed the meeting.
"The revelation raises serious questions that Schiff is once again politicizing, and perhaps even deliberately misrepresenting, key data for partisan gain," Hemingway and Davis write.
His negligence is leading many to question if Schiff—the key player behind the Russian collusion hoax and the Democrats’ failed impeachment attempts to remove President Donald Trump from office—is simply playing politics with the lives of American servicemen.
In an NPR interview on Tuesday, Noel King directly asked Schiff when he first had knowledge of the Russians putting a price on American soldiers’ heads in Afghanistan.
"I'm not allowed to comment on that," Schiff said. "At some point, they will either confirm or deny the actual intelligence reports. But until they do, I can't comment on that."
Patrick Boland, a spokesman for Schiff on the House’s intelligence committee, did not respond to The Federalist’s request for comment on Schiff’s inaction and lack of transparency.
Boland also declined to explain why the travel records of the Congressional staff delegation Afghanistan trip had not been cited in the Congressional Record despite that being legally required.
Schiff also lied about his staff’s coordination with the Real Clear Investigations-named whistleblower Eric Ciaramella. The interactions occurred prior to Ciaramella’s complaint filed against Trump, according to Adirondack Daily Enterprise.
Just as Schiff attacked Trump for not responding to the Russian bounty suspicions, Schiff and his top aides knew about the rumors of Russian funded bounties on American armed service personnel—directly from intelligence officials—yet did nothing and reported to no one.
