A woman is no longer working at a California school district after allegedly coughing on a baby while in a social distancing dispute, according to CTV News.
Over the weekend, Oak Grove School District announced that the unidentified woman is no longer working with the district.
"We want to inform our community that the District employee who was alleged to have engaged in this conduct is no longer an employee of our District," said the district in a statement.
"The Oak Grove School District's highest priority is the safety of our students and the well-being of all of the children in the community we serve. We do not tolerate conduct from any employee that compromises any child's safety."
The district was not clear about whether she was fired from the job or left on her own terms.
The initial incident occurred on June 12, when video showed the woman coughing in the face of a baby because the mother, reportedly, was not keeping at a proper distance while in a line at a frozen yogurt shop. The mother had her baby in a stroller behind the woman in line, say San Jose police.
"The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was upset the female was not maintaining proper social distancing so the suspect removed her face mask, got close to the baby's face, and coughed two to three times," said Sgt. Enrique Garcia last month.
The woman suspected of committing the act has not been named by the San Jose Police Department because no arrest has been made. She is described as a white woman in her 60s.
"We can't release the names of suspects until there is a warrant for their arrest, they were booked into jail, or they were issued a criminal citation," noted Garcia last month.
"We are not sharing additional information at this time. The investigation is ongoing and we are following up on tips."
