Mere weeks after the left praised Sesame Street for pushing COVID vaccinations on children, some are now slamming the classic children's show for its apparent support of JK Rowling.
The backlash came in response to a photo of 4-year-old fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby apparently brushing up on her Harry Potter love with a copy of "Furry Potter and the Goblet of Fur," accompanied by the caption "Don't ask @AbbyCadabbySST for anything today. She's getting ready to #ReturntoHogwarts."
But as Harry Potter creator JK Rowling has been under fire for her supposed "transphobia" due to her firm belief that biological sex is real, some trans activists were quick to react, with the majority of responses taking issue with Sesame Street's apparent support for the writer.
One person questioned if the 4-year-old Muppet is a "terf," an acronym that stands for "trans-exclusionary radical feminist," the catch-all insult directed at women who leftists believe to be "transphobic" for defending women's rights and existence.
Another slammed Sesame Street, long famous for its diverse and inclusive cast of humans and Muppets alike, for supporting someone they claim believes that transgender people shouldn't exist.
One commenter said there were "better books" that Abby could be reading than Harry Potter, a series which had a notable impact on inspiring children to read.
Sesame Street has been airing on HBO—who produced "Return to Hogwarts"—since 2016. In 2019, a new deal saw HBO Max become the first to air new episodes of the long-running series in a move many criticized, with its original home of PBS airing those episodes at a later date.
Rowling herself has been notably snubbed from HBO's "Return to Hogwarts" celebration of the beloved magical universe she created, including by the actors whose careers she helped launch.
