Seattle police investigating after human remains found in several bags on beach

An investigation is underway by Seattle police following the finding of “several bags” of human remains on a beach on Friday, according to authorities.

Officers reported to the Elliot Bay shoreline in West Seattle after receiving a call about a suspicious bag. After police searched the area they found another bag floating close by, reports Fox News.

The finding of the remains was filmed on Tik Tok as a group of friends located a suitcase with a garbage bag inside it and called the police.

“There was a police boat and an inflatable boat and they had a hook and they took black plastic bags out,” Steven Buty, a resident who lives close to the area, said to KOMO News. “I saw them take two bags.”

Detectives were called to the scene to begin an investigation as soon as police found that the bags contained human flesh.

Police did not determine whether the remains belonged to a male or female, or to multiple people. Police also did not clarify how the bags ended up on the beach.

Detectives are working with Harbor Patrol and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to complete their investigation, according to a statement.
