The suspect has been confirmed as a 51-year-old male, police say.
Police say the shooting began Saturday evening after a complaint in Portapique, Nova Scotia, and was confirmed as an active shooter situation shortly after, with police telling the public to lock their doors.
Police say there have been several victims.
Police also said that Wortman could have been driving an RCMP vehicle and uniform, despite not being an RCMP officer.

Wortman was driving throughout the province, driving from the campgrounds in Glenholme, Nova Scotia to Brookfield in what appeared to be a RCMP cruiser.
UPDATE: The gunman and a police officer are among those dead after a 12-hour long shooting spree in Nova Scotia, that went until around noon on Sunday.
Police have confirmed that there are multiple victims, not revealing a final count as of yet.
"It's unimaginable what some people in my community are going through today," Coun. Tom Taggart told CBC News.
