After an incident at an elementary school in Lorain Ohio in which a girl was forced to eat food from a garbage can, two cafeteria workers have been placed on leave and are to be terminated.
A girl has asked for a different meal as she didn't like the waffles which were served to her. Staff told her to "finish what was on her tray," but she refused and "threw out the remaining waffles."
That was when another staff member dug into the trash can, pulled the waffles back out and forced the girl to eat them. This staff member has been terminated on Thursday after a lawsuit had been filed on Nov. 21, 2021.
The school's principal has also been placed on leave, and is slated for termination following a 10-day notice which had been previously sent, according to local outlet Fox 8.
Dr. Jeff Graham, CEO and Superintendent of the school district, commented on the issue:
"Any infringement upon the dignity and respect of our students will not be tolerated. Our students deserve staff members who are able to make good decisions in all situations — and any staff member who is unable to deliver on that promise is unwelcome in our schools."
"We will not let the actions of two people define us when there are so many wonderful things happening in our classrooms, schools and community."
