An update on the status of schools in Ontario will be announced today by Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce today, as some businesses and child care services begin to reopen, according to Global News. Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliot will be present to speak to the press as well.
Ontario is beginning the early stages of reopening its economy, allowing retailers, auto dealers, certain sports centres, golf courses and private parks to resume their business operations.
The provincial government is continuing to enforce physical distancing and stresses that all businesses comply with the public health guidelines and enforce that their customers do the same.
Not all businesses will reopen right away, even the among those that have been given the green light to do so, some still feel it is still too early to reopen. Others are delighted and eager to start earning revenue again.
In mid-March, all businesses that were deemed non-essential were ordered to close by the provincial government. As of this week, those businesses are allowed to reopen as long as they have a street entrance in order to offer curb-side pickup.
As of Monday, Ontario had 304 additional cases of COVID-19, making the provincial total 22,957. Ontario has seen 1,904 coronavirus related deaths since the pandemic began, 23 of which were reported on Monday.
