A crash involving a vehicle and a horse and buggy left a 10-year-old child dead in Bruce County, Ontario on Sunday night, CP24 has reported.

The Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene at 8:45 pm that night. First responders arrived at the location of the collision on Bruce County Road 10, where they pronounced the child dead at the scene.

The crash also left a 9-year-old child critically injured, who was airlifted to a hospital in nearby London for treatment.

The area was closed to oncoming traffic as first responders responded to the incident.

While the victims of the crash have not been identified, Bruce County is home to a large Mennonite community, and transportation via horse and buggy is a relatively more common sighting in the area.

The OPP is asking that anyone with information regarding the fatal crash to contact them.
