Daniel Issac, Marquez, a 10-year old fifth-grader at Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral Florida, has now been arrested by police after a series of texts in which he threatened to perpetuate another mass shooting.
This incident comes right on the heels of a previous incident in the same community, which happened on Thursday, in which a woman, Tracy Carter, threatened to show up at a graduation ceremony "with a bomb strapped to her chest."
However, when police searched her home, no signs of a bomb or materials to make one were found; the threat turned out to be empty. Carter later claimed she just "wanted to be heard" and didn't plan to or want to hurt anybody.
According to the Daily Mail, "Sheriff Carmine Marceno laid into Marquez for his 'sickening' text message after he was arrested on Saturday. He said: 'This student's behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.'"
"Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools! My team didn't hesitate one second…NOT ONE SECOND, to investigate this threat," added the sheriff, referring to the fact that police did not respond in Uvalde for almost a whole hour.
"Real consequences. Lee County will have law and order," Marceno continued. "Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It's not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he's experiencing real consequences."
