Former Trump campaign aide Carter Page filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Justice Department, FBI, and multiple named individuals surrounding FISA warrants to spy on him that were obtained as part of the Russian collusion investigation.
The lawsuit states the FBI violated “his Constitutional and other legal rights in connection with unlawful surveillance and investigation of him by the United States Government.” Page also states he believes that he “was targeted because of his lawful association with the 2016 Presidential campaign of Donald Trump.”
Page is suing numerous of other individuals associated with the DOJ’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation into alleged Russian collusion, according to The Daily Wire.
The list includes ex-FBI director James Comey, ex-FBI agents Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Kevin Clinesmith, who pleaded guilty to falsifying evidence against Page.
Page also alleges the FBI broke its own rules when investigating him. Specifically Rule 13a, which “requires the government to immediately correct any misstatement or omission of material fact in a warrant application." In this case, the evidence of leads the FBI used to justify the investigation were false.
Page claims these actions damaged his reputation as well as his emotional state. The former Navy Officer is requesting at least $75 million in damages from the FBI.
