In October of 2019 (during the last federal election) the Globe and Mail published a story that implied Chinese-language Conservative ads were false. Today they published an article in line with what Conservatives have been saying since October.

The ads were published in simplified Chinese and say : "Before Trudeau legalized marijuana, he now intends to legalize hard drugs!"

On October 12, 2019, when asked by reporters about the accuracy of the ad, Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer explained, "This is something that is very important to Canadians to know about ... we are telling them that these are the types of things Liberals speculate about before the election, and then implement after the election."

The Globe and Mail has put a disclaimer on the old article claiming the Conservatives were lying about their ads : "This article was published more than 6 months ago. Some information in it may no longer be current.
