On Tuesday morning, the Democratic party tweeted its official position against Mt. Rushmore. They wrote: "Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again. He's attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he's holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore—a region once sacred to tribal communities."

Mt. Rushmore features the likenesses of former US presidents George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson. It was carved by Gutzon Borglum in the 1920s.

The tweet shared a link to an article in The Guardian arguing that President Trump’s upcoming Independence Day fireworks event is a “rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore.”

In so doing, the Democrats have now come for Mt. Rushmore.

The claims made are inaccurate, erroneous and radical, and in an election year, Democrat party officials do not want Americans to know that radicals now run the party. This is undoubtedly why they deleted the tweet, but it wasn't because they didn't believe what they posted.

The Democrat party claims President Trump is hosting a rally to celebrate white supremacy and that Mt. Rushmore, a shrine of democracy, is a white supremacist monument. The supposition is that all four presidents on Mt. Rushmore are racist, including Abraham Lincoln, and the claim is that Rushmore sculptor Borglum was a Klan member and the monument was carved on stolen land.

The Guardian article makes the case that Native Americans, in general, are against Mt. Rushmore. However, their source is be Nick Tilsen, the president of radical indigenous social justice organization: the NDN Collective. NDN is in no way is a de facto representative for any tribe, let alone all of Native Americans in South Dakota.

NDN is one of the groups that helped orchestrate the recent illegal checkpoints on South Dakota highways around several reservations. Last October, the group brought in Greta Thunberg to preach about climate change. Thunberg then led a march to the Rapid City capitol, a city of 75,000. NDN is obsessed with decolonization, climate change, wealth distribution, racism, & other far-lefty causes.

Mt. Rushmore is not a monument to white supremacy. The claim that Lincoln was a white supremacist because he ordered the death of 39 Dakotan men is false. Those deaths were never ordered. Three of the four heads on the monument were chosen because they moved freedom forward. Lincoln, specifically for emancipation. Borglum's initial plans for the project included two Sioux heroes, but the monument remained unfinished.

As for the land being stolen, the events referred to happened in 1877, Borglum began his work in the 1920s. Gutzon Borglum belonged at briefly to the Klan, as did most Democrats in the south in the first part of the 20th century.

Every president since Coolidge has visited the shrine of Democracy, including Obama.

The Democrat party and the media telling us that Mt. Rushmore needs to go isn't because it is blasphemous problematic but because Mt. Rushmore is a monument dedicated to what American liberty. At Mt. Rushmore, chiseled in imperfect granite 100 feet high, is an edifice that celebrates the history of America.

Standing before this edifice will change your heart. My family and I make a pilgrimage every summer to the monument and attend its nightly lighting ceremony. As part of the spectacle, a film plays paying homage to the four American presidents, and the national anthem is performed with the light shining on the granite above.

The veterans in the audience—like my retired air-force captain grandfather— are asked to go up to the stage and stand next to the flag. They share their name, rank, and branch of service with the audience. The crowd of sometimes a thousand stands in respectful awe, with hands over hearts, as the American flag is reverently folded and passed to each veteran. Finally, after everything gets quiet and dark, with the flag safely put away, the crowd breaks out in a massive cheer as we share in positive jubilation.

Mt. Rushmore is a monument of redemption. Out of a wild mountain came a shrine to democracy. Like the statue, our forefathers were able to create a republican wonder out of a rough people with an even harsher history. Our liberty, republic, the constitutional order, and our democratic values would last time itself.

Borglum wrote that “Hence, let us place there, carved high, as close to heaven as we can, the words of our leaders, their faces, to show posterity what manner of men they were. Then breathe a prayer that these records will endure until the wind and rain alone shall wear them away.”

Mt. Rushmore show that there is still hope for the American project. It is for this reason that the radicals now controlling the Democrat party seek its destruction.
