Three officers, two paramedics have been charged with the death of Elijah McClain in 2019. According to ABC, Colorado's Attorney General said Wednesday a grand jury indicted the five individuals involved with the death of Elijah McClain, a Black man who was put in a chokehold and injected with a powerful sedative two years ago in suburban Denver.

The 23-year-old's death gained national notoriety, especially following the subsequent death of George Floyd and the riots that ensued.

An alarming police camera video depicts authorities stopping McClain for no reason and pinning him to the ground. As the officers approached him, they began yelling, "Stop right there. Stop. Stop ... I have a right to stop you because you're being suspicious."

McClain replied, "You guys started to arrest me, and I was stopping my music to listen." they then handcuffed him while McClain can be heard sobbing. He is warned not to tense up by the officer; otherwise, he will "have to change the situation."

"I'm just different. I'm just different, that's all. That's all I was doing. I'm so sorry. I have no gun. I don't do that stuff. I don't do any fighting. Why were you attacking me? I don't do guns. I don't even kill flies. I don't eat meat. ... I am a vegetarian," McClain said as he sobbed.

Paramedics then arrived and injected McClain with Ketamine to calm him down. They gave him 1 1/2 times the dose for his weight and five minutes later, he stopped breathing. McClain was left brain dead and was taken off life support six days later.

All five officers and paramedics have been charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
