Toronto Police are now combing the city for three suspects allegedly involved in the stabbing of a man at a midtown Toronto shelter Saturday night, according to CP24 News.
This is the latest in a string of violent incidents that have gripped Toronto and the surrounding area this year.
The stabbing victim, a 44 year old male, was taken to the hospital by Toronto Paramedic Services to be treated for his injuries. He is described as being in serious but stable condition.
The police are searching for Colin Defreitas, 27, Reese Morris, aged between 20 and 30 years, and an as yet unidentified third adult male, approximately 20 to 25, in connection with the incident.
Defreitas is tall and thin and has a beard and brown hair. He was wearing a baseball cap, light blue jeans and a dark jacket. Morris has black medium length hair. He was wearing black track pants, a white t-shirt and white running shoes.
The third suspect was described as wielding a machete. He has a large afro, and was dressed almost identically to his companion, Morris.
The incident took place around 10 p.m. on Saturday at Mount Pleasant Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East, in midtown Toronto, right outside the Roehampton Hotel, which is currently being used as a shelter. The victim is a client who has been staying there. However, it has been confirmed that none of the attackers had anything to do with the hotel.
This hotel and another one nearby on Broadway Avenue that is also being used as a shelter have been the subject of numerous complaints by citizens who live close by. There was also another stabbing incident earlier in August when a City of Toronto employee who was working at the Broadway Avenue location was also stabbed.
People who may have more information are encouraged to come forward by calling the Toronto Metro Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The suspects are believed to currently be armed and dangerous and it is recommended that the public not approach them.
