Toronto Mayor John Tory has found himself in hot water after he posted a picture of a landmark that has since been vandalized by protestors.
"The Toronto Sign will be lit in gold today to further celebrate #GradDay and the dedicated efforts of all of the 2020 graduates,"said the Mayor. "Congratulations!"

In reality, however, the "Toronto Sign" has banners cast over its letters by protestors who have been occupying the park. Graffitied on the sign are slogans like "genocide" and "defund," which are allusions to the protestors plans to defund the police and the statement that Canada has—and still is—committing genocide.
As well as this, the maple leaf that follows the O had been painted so that blood seemed to be dripping from its edges with "blood on your hand" written across it.
Not folks who appreciate nuance, the protestors also drew bloody hands on the leaf in order, presumably, to add emphasis.

In response to these protests, Mayor Tory has proposed that all police officers in Toronto should wear body cameras. The city is voting on Monday on a motion that would defund the city's police officers.
