Toronto Star TikTok influencer advocates for libraries to pull Dr. Seuss books

Toronto Star editor Evy Kwong raised eyebrows on Thursday when she advocated that libraries should pull Dr. Seuss books. This controversy is related to President Biden recently pulling six books from Read Across America Day, an initiative that was founded in the author's honor.

Evy Kwong is an already controversial journalist, most notably known for getting a cook fired for cooking Pho. She alleged this was cultural appropriation. Kwong is now making herself public once again, posting this video to the official Toronto Star TikTok account. The Star itself has also made headlines recently as they outlet announced it would be opening a casino to help fund its journalism.

In the following video, Evy is seen rehashing the allegations that Dr. Seuss books have a secret racist undertone. She continues explaining how these books are still readily available at the Toronto Public Library. The Library itself has released a statement, indicating they are investigation these allegations and it is to be determined whether Dr. Seuss is indeed a raging racist.

Kwong then quotes Felicia Christmas, a co-founder of the Blackstone Foundation Library, who questions why there isn't more urgency to remove the books. Christmas also states that it is not merely enough to remove the books and apologize. Instead, Dr. Seuss enterprises must show "real commitment."
