Alek Minassian, the man responsible for the Toronto van attack that killed 10 people is set to go to trial on November 9, 2020, according to CBC.
Minassian stands accused of 10 counts of first-degree murder and 16 counts of attempted murder after he purposely drove a van through a busy sidewalk in Toronto.
Minassian told police his motive for the attack was to seek revenge on the world after years of sexual rejection from women only hours after the heinous act was committed.
The four-week trial which is set to begin this fall was set by Justice John McMahon to begin on November 9 and will do so before a judge without the presence of a jury. Initially, the trial was to begin on April 6 however the COVID-19 pandemic forced its postponement.
Minassian's case will be decided upon his state of mind at the time of the attack, not whether or not he committed the crime, explained the judge.
