His cancellation was allegedly due to the fact that he supports JK Rowling, who is seen to some as transphobic, including this very trans rights activist.

The leader of the BC Ecosocialist Party was forced to resign on Tuesday, after a trans activist launched a cancel campaign against him. His cancellation was allegedly due to the fact that he supports JK Rowling, who is seen to some as transphobic, including this very trans rights activist.

Stuart Parker announced his resignation on Tuesday, alleging that the trans rights activist, Nicola Spurling, has spread false information against him.

"A slew of false allegations of transphobia are being circulated against me and being used to tarnish the party and derail the important work of the coming campaign," stated Parker in his letter.

This all began when Parker defended JK Rowling on social media, specifically in response to a "I [heart] JK Rowling" billboard put up in Vancouver. He defended someone else from attacks by Spurling.

His comment read "Labeling everyone who questions any detail of the orthodoxy as a transphobe and hate-monger is a major tactical error trans rights advocates are committing right now. People like Rowling were your supporters a decade ago and remain advocates for trans equality despite the blizzard of rape threats and efforts to remove them from their jobs."

Spurling used Parker's words against him, and put up her own post going after Parker. According to Tricitynews, she then contacted Meryam Haddad, who was recently disqualified from the Federal Green Leadership for endorsing the BC Ecosocialist Party. Haddad then tweeted a denouncement of Parker.

Prior to his resignation, Parker attempted to defend himself against the cancellation on social media. He wrote that he was being targeted for defending elderly women from getting fired for their standing with JK Rowling, saying that he thinks "we all deserve secure employment and a life free of rape threats."

He said that cancel culture is at risk of being cancelled because the cancelled are no longer within the ideological control of those who are doing the cancelling.

He thanked his supporters, and clarified that his statements were in opposition not to trans individuals but to the ideology of identitarianism.

Following Parker's Resignation and successful cancel campaign, Nicola Spurling made an announcement that she is seeking the nomination to be a Green candidate in the upcoming BC Provincial Election.

As an activist, this is not the first time Spurling has been part of cancel campaigns. She is famous for suggesting that JK Rowling should not be around young children, which lead to the author replying with threat of a defamation claim.
