Trudeau: Canada now has 'safe and approved test' to detect coronavirus antibodies

The test is the first of its kind to be approved in Canada. The goal of the test will be to help labs and scientists determine whether or not a person has anti-bodies which could help fight COVID-19 in their system.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed media on Wednesday, giving some good news on the fight against COVID-19.

Trudeau announced that Canada has approved its first test for COVID-19 antibodies.

The test is the first of its kind to be approved in Canada. The goal of the test will be to help labs and scientists determine whether or not a person has anti-bodies which could help fight COVID-19 in their system.

"Health Canada announced that it is authorized the first serological test for COVID-19 antibodies," said Trudeau. "This is a critical step for the work of the COVID-19 immunity task force, which now has a safe and approved test that can detect antibodies specific to COVID-19 in an individual's blood."

The tests will be used to "help better understand immunity against the virus, and how it spreads," said Trudeau.
