Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be isolating from home after he was exposed to a COVID-positive person.
Trudeau tweeted the news on Thursday morning, saying that he took a rapid test and tested negative.
"I am following [Ottawa Public Health] rules and isolating for five days. I feel fine and will be working from home," he said. "Stay safe, everyone – and please get vaccinated."
Many members of Trudeau's cabinet have been exposed to the virus recently, including Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.
Trudeau's itinerary for Thursday includes several meetings with world prime ministers, and he will also deliver opening remarks at the virtual National Caucus Winter Retreat, as well as the virtual International Holocaust Remembrance Day event.
