Parks Canada has announced that no camping or activities will be allowed in any national parks throughout the country until June at the earliest to avoid further spread of coronavirus, according to CTV News.

All events taking place at national parks, heritage canals, national historic sites as well as national marine conservations areas will be put on hold until at least May 31.

No new reservations can be made at Parks Canada until June 1. Existing reservations leading up to then will be cancelled and fully refunded.

In a statement, Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said, “Parks Canada is taking these additional measures to help keep people safe. Like all Canadians, I love our national parks and historic sites, but at this time we must all continue to do our part to flatten the curve, look out for one another, and make choices that will help reduce the pressure on our health care system.”

Parks Canada has already shut down vehicle access along with visitor services and facilities. On Wednesday, it announced that these changes will remain in place “until further notice.”
