The Trudeau Liberals have not released a federal budget since March 19, 2019, marking Tuesday as the official two-year anniversary since then-Finance Minister Bill Morneau tabled Canada's last structured blueprint for its economic agenda.
While no date for the next budget has been announced, Canada's top brass announced that an all-woman "task force" would be launched to guarantee the coming budget would include measures to address what Trudeau himself called a "she-cession" (a portmanteau of 'she' and recession.)
The budget will likely also include billions in stimulus in an attempt to get Canada's economy rolling.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland's spokesperson said last week that the budget would come later "this spring."
"Canada’s future prosperity and competitiveness depend on the ability of women to participate equally – and fully – in our workforce," Freeland said in a statement to Reuters.
