Trudeau Liberals to pay $96,000 to 'storytellers' to explain 'what the government is doing and why'

Applicants must answer questions such as "If you could only have one superpower, what would it be and what would you use it for?"

The Trudeau Liberals have posted a job application for a "Storyteller and Team Lead"—a position that can pay up to a very handsome $96,461.

The Privy Council Office's job posting says that they are seeking "individuals who can think through the complexities and nuances of any given topic in order to write non-partisan, high quality communications products and messages that tell a story about what the government is doing," a remote job that requires "talented writers"  who can "draft high-quality communications products and messages that tell a story about what the government is doing and why."

A writing sample is necessary for the application, with the Privy Council requesting that applicants answer questions such as "If you could only have one superpower, what would it be and what would you use it for?" or "If you could time travel, where and when would you go, and why?"

Conservative MP Warren Steinley read the listing to the House of Commons, questioning why the Liberal government would seek out a storyteller during the worst Canadian health crisis since the Spanish Flu.

"in the middle of the pandemic, is that your priority?" asked Steinley, according to Blacklock's Reporter. "You want a storyteller to tell the stories about this Prime Minister? It is shameful."

"When thousands of people in Saskatchewan are looking for a job for months and people are paying their mortgages with their line of credit, your priority is a storyteller," Steinley continued.

The ridiculous job application may remind some of the Trudeau government's job listing searching for "wizards."

The April 2019 job application asked applicants to identify themselves as either Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, or Slytherins—the four houses of the now-transphobic JK Rowling Harry Potter series.

"No matter what ‘house’ you belong to, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) has various teams that we would love to use our ‘sorting hat’ to place you into," part of the application read.
