Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted a tweet on Tuesday where he expressed grief over the death of school children after a shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Texas.

"My heart breaks for everyone affected by the horrific shooting in Texas today. I’m thinking of the parents, the families, the friends, the classmates, and the coworkers whose lives have been forever changed – Canadians are mourning with you, and are here for you," tweeted Trudeau.

Trudeau said on Wednesday that new gun control measures would be coming to Canada.

“We’ve been working with them and some of their concerns over the past while because we understand there is a range of opinions and views,” Trudeau said. “That unity is what we’re going to move forward with as we take new steps in the coming weeks on gun control."

The Trudeau Liberals promised $1 billion to provinces that put into place a handgun ban, with the Liberals having already made 1,500 models of guns illegal.

The Trudeau Liberals said announced in March of this year that the order to maintain the ban would be extended until October 2023.
