Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed media on Labour Day after a stabbing spree in Saskatchewan that left ten dead and over a dozen injured.

Trudeau called the attacks "shocking and heartbreaking," saying that his "thoughts and the thoughts of all Canadians are with those who've lost loved ones and those who are injured."

Trudeau said that the situation is still being monitored closely. At the time of his press conference, both suspects were still at large. As of now, one suspect has been found dead from injuries that are believed to not be self inflicted. The other is still on the run. "This kind of violence, or any kind of violence, has no place in our country," said Trudeau.

Saskatchewan RCMP's commanding officer Rhonda Blackmore said that at 5:40 am over the weekend, a call was received reporting a stabbing on the James Smith Cree Nation, and multiple calls then came in reporting additional stabbings in other locations in the community. This information was relayed during a press conference over the weekend.

A province-wide Dangerous Person Alert was issued by Melfort RCMP, identifying the suspects as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson. Police say that the men may also be in Manitoba or Alberta.

"I reached out to the James Smith Cree Nation leadership earlier today... I also spoke with Premier Moe of Saskatchewan to highlight that the federal government will be there with the resources necessary right now in this time of crisis, but also will continue to work as partners in the weeks, months, and years to come through grieving and healing."

Trudeau said that all federal buildings in Saskatchewan have had their flags lowered, and the Peace Tower's flag has also been lowered to half mast.

"Sadly, over these past years, tragedies like these have become all too commonplace. Saskatchewanians and Canadians will do what we always do in times of difficulty and anguish. We'll be there for each other," said Trudeau.

Yesterday, RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore said that the suspects "are considered armed and dangerous. They are believed to be in a black Nissan Rogue SUV with Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI. At this point, we don't know if they have changed vehicles since this morning. Their location and direction of travel are unknown. This is why we need everyone in the province to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately." She added, "If you see the suspects and/or their vehicle, do not approach them or their vehicle, immediately leave the area, and call 911." Again, this information was released prior to the discovery of one suspect's body.
