A new Suffolk University/USA Today Network poll released on Tuesday reveals that Florida voters are currently more likely to vote for Republican candidates Donald Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis if they were to run in the 2024 presidential election over incumbent Joe Biden.

In a rematch between the former president and the current one, 47.4 percent of Florida residents said that they would prefer Trump, with 44 percent saying they would prefer Biden.

In a potential matchup between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Biden, 51.8 percent said they preferred DeSantis, while 43.8 percent said they preferred Biden.

In potential presidential matchup between DeSantis and 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, 53.2 percent said they would vote for DeSantis.

In a 2016 repeat match, 49.4 percent said they would prefer Trump over Clinton.

The poll also shows Biden slipping behind Clinton as a Democrat Primary pick, with 42.68 percent saying they would prefer Biden, and 46.34 percent saying they would prefer Clinton.

"That's something that's got to give President Biden pause and other potential Democratic challengers pause," said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, according to USA Today.

A majority of Floridians said they disapproved of the job that Biden is currently doing, with 52.8 percent responding as such. Just 38.6 percent said they approved of his job as president.

A majority, at 47.6 percent, also said they disapproved of how Biden is handling the COVID-19 pandemic, and 57 percent said they disapproved of how Biden is handling the economy.

The poll also revealed that Republicans looking for re-election are currently winning in their polls.

For the Florida governors race, DeSantis is currently polling higher than potential Democrat nominees Charlie Crist, 48.6 percent to 42.8 percent, and  Nikki Fried, 50.8 percent to 39.6 percent.

The majority of Floridians currently support Senator Marco Rubio over democrat Val Demings, with 48.6 percent saying they would vote for Rubio. Just shy of 10 percent though say they are currently undecided, which could change the outcome of the matchup.
