Following Trump's outing this evening at the White House daily briefing on coronavirus, #BoycottTrumpPressConferences began to trend, quickly reaching 40,000 tweets at the time of writing.
During the press conference, Trump was vocal in his denunciation of reporters and news outlets that appear to be more concerned with rhetoric than distilling facts and information on the pervasive pandemic.
Rather than rally behind the president to help the nation come together in an international crisis, Trump haters continued with their disdainful tone, running with false cable news media narratives and thoroughly debunked claims like that Trump called the coronavirus a hoax.
Now Trump is taking credit 4 getting less than 2.2 million people killed by Corona Virus. He really wants a pat on the back 4 that.

Imagine how many people could’ve been saved if Trump didn’t call COVID-19 a HOAX. If Fox News didn’t call it a HOAX!#BoycottTrumpPressConferences
"3 weeks ago" you called the coronavirus a "Hoax"! #BoycottTrumpPressConferences

Some pundits even went so far as to say that the press conferences, in which the sitting US president addresses the ongoing pandemic, shouldn't be aired at all. This includes, oddly enough, Free Press, which is supposedly a "non-partisan organization fighting for your rights to connect and communicate."
At @freepress we aren’t just calling on people to #BoycottTrumpPressConferences, we think broadcasters ought to refrain from airing them too. To air Trump’s dangerous lies and #misinformation without disclaimer goes against public interest and violates the broadcast hoax rule. https://t.co/d3nvfA4ocB

This was in response to Trump's strong press conference in which he flattened fake news narratives. Mainstream media often focuses on their impression that Trump is only in politics for himself, or claims that he isn't taking the crisis seriously enough.
Meanwhile, the United States has tested more people for coronavirus than any country in the world. This after what some called a sluggish response to the crisis.
"Why don't you act in a little more positive. It's always trying to get'cha. Get'cha, get'cha... Be nice, don't be threatening. Be nice," said Trump after being asked a question about ventilators.

In another video, Trump calls out a CNN reporter for misquoting him by cutting off a quote and not giving the full context. The journalist reads a quote of Trump's back to him, in which he referred to Senators.
"Ready? Take a look at what I said. 'I want them to be appreciative of me,' and then you cut it off because it's fake news CNN. You know the answer's a lie. You know the answer's a lie. and your response and your answer is a lie," said Trump.
After the scolding, the journalist reads the full quote which is as follows: "I want them to be appreciative. I don't want them to say things that aren't true. I want them to be appreciative. We've done a great job, and I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about Mike Pence, The Task Force, FEMA, the army core of engineers."
Wow. Trump vs CNN. Very epic. pic.twitter.com/dpIPoXcu9h

Trump was in rare form this evening, and it's no wonder that so many in the mainstream media, who are hoping for him to lose the upcoming election, are not enjoying his vigilance in the face of the coronavirus crisis.
