Former president Donald Trump has endorsed Blake Masters for Arizona Senate in the GOP Primary.
The endorsement should elevate Masters from a pool of candidates that include Jim Lamon, Michael McGuire, Justin Olson, and current Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. Similar to other primaries this year many of the candidates had lobbied for Trump's support.
Blake Masters is a venture capitalist, author, and President of the Thiel Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes science and innovation. This is the second candidate backed by entrepreneur Peter Thiel that Trump has endorsed, following the successful support of JD Vance in Ohio.
On his website Masters states "I’m a Christian, husband, father, businessman, gun owner, and an early member of President Trump’s MAGA movement. I grew up in Arizona, and I hate what is happening to it."
Master's platform notes that the modern Democratic party has "given up on America" and "given up on you." He bases much of his criticism around the tech industry and its capitulation to Leftist ideology.
The winner of GOP's Arizona August primary will face Democratic senator Mark Kelly in one of the more contentious seats in the November election.
