President Trump granted a full pardon to former campaign aide George Papadopoulos Tuesday.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about his alleged contacts to those connected with top Russian officials, Reuters reports.

Papadopoulos served 12 days of a 14 day prison sentence and was then placed on a 12 month supervised release. Papadopoulos responded to the news thanking the President for the pardon on Twitter.

"Thank you Mr. President!!! This means the world to me and my family!" Papadopoulos tweeted.

The White House claimed Papadopoulos was charged with "a process-related crime, one count of making false statements," during the Mueller investigation, Reuters reports.

Trump reportedly granted pardons to 15 people leading up to the holiday season, including Dutch son-in-law of Russian billionaire German Khan, Alex van der Zwaan, who was sentenced to a 30-day prison sentence and fined $20,ooo, and three former Republican lawmakers.
