President Donald Trump is considering authorizing a special counsel investigation into the business dealings of Hunter Biden, Daily Wire reports.

Trump has reportedly discussed the matter with White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and counsel Pat Cipollone, among others.

Hunter Biden is currently under investigation by the District Attorney's Office for Western Pennsylvania in connection to his business dealings with the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, as well as by the District Attorney's Office for Delaware in connection to his business dealings in China and related tax payments.

Appointing a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden's business dealings would protect the ongoing investigations from meddling from the White House when Joe Biden, Hunter's father, enters office.

Joe Biden has repeatedly denied any connections to his son's business dealings. Such claims have been questioned by leaked emails from Hunter Biden referencing his father in his business dealings, as well as by his former business partner Tony Bobulinski, who has alleged that Joe Biden was heavily involved in his son's business and even went so far as to allege that the President-elect is "compromised" by the Chinese government.

Joe Biden has said that he is "confident" that his son is not guilty of any wrongdoing.
