Trump rips on Durham in official statement: ‘Is he a living, breathing human being?’

In a statement from his office on March 26th, former president Donald Trump took aim at special counsel John Durham.

As CNN reports, John Durham was appointed by Attorney General William Barr as special counsel, in charge of investigating "potential crimes by federal officials or others who may have violated the law in connection with the intelligence, counter-intelligence, or law-enforcement activities directed at the 2016 presidential campaigns or in the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane and the Mueller investigations."

The investigation, dubbed the Durham Probe, was lauded by Trump, who saw it as a way of getting even with those who had investigated him via the Mueller Report. The Durham Probe has so far only brought about one guilty plea from an FBI lawyer. Even that trial has been put on hold, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the emergence of new information.

In the run-up to the 2020 election, then President Trump was counting on the Durham Probe to be finished before November. He hoped that it would not only help him, but damage his detractors. Having called the Mueller Investigation everything from a witch hunt to a hoax, Trump was eager to be avenged, and prove that he had been the victim all along.Much to Trump's dismay, Barr announced that the Durham Probe would not be released before election day.  Since then, Durham has been added to Trump's seemingly endless list of those who have wronged him.

When Joe Biden won the election and took office, U.S. attorneys who worked in the Trump administration resigned.  As Fox News reports, "Durham stepped down from his post as U.S. attorney for Connecticut but retained his status as special counsel for purposes of his RussiaGate probe."

Durham has remained silent as of late, prompting  Trump to release his statement questioning whether Durham is, in fact, "a living, breathing human being.  Trump ends his statement by asking whether there will ever be Durham report, a question that Republicans across the country are eager to have answered before it's too late.
